The last day of 2008 was celebrated in Montreal in the Old Montreal district. It was very cold outside. The actual temperature was -18ºC (0ºF), but the felt air temperature, due to the wind chill factor, dropped to -28ºC (-18ºF).

La dernière journée de 2008 a été célébrée à Montréal dans le quartier du Vieux-Montréal. Il faisait très froid. La température affichée sur le thermomètre était de -18ºC, mais la température ressentie à cause du vent descendait à -28ºC.

Se celebró el último día del 2008 en Montreal en el distrito del Viejo Montreal. La temperatura estaba muy baja: -18ºC, pero por el factor de refrescamiento del viento la temperatura sentida bajó a -28ºC.

There was a band performing on a stage. They were playing traditional music.

Il y avait un groupe qui jouait de la musique sur une scène. C'était de la musique traditionnelle.

A group of people were expressing their support for the Palestinian people.

And the first day of 2009 started off with nice fireworks. Let's hope 2009 will be a good year for everybody. And let's hope that the world gets rid of the problems from 2008. No more wars!

Friday, I went to see a show given by a friend of mine at a bar. This was an opportunity for me to support a friend, take some nice pictures and see some colleagues outside of our workplace.

Vendredi, je suis allé voir un spectacle donné par un ami dans un bar. C’était une opportunité pour moi d’encourager un ami, de prendre quelques belles photos et de voir des collègues dans un autre contexte que le travail.

El viernes, me fui a ver un espectáculo dado por un amigo en un bar. Aproveché de la ocasión para soportar un amigo, tomar fotos y ver compañeros de trabajo fuera de nuestro lugar de trabajo.

I was the photographer for the event. The cameraman, that you see in the background is Jonathan. He is the one who posts comments under the nickname "sleeplow".

J’étais le photographe pour le spectacle. Le caméraman que l’on voit au fond, c’est Jonathan, celui qui commente ce blog sous le pseudonyme "sleeplow".

The audience was seated at the beginning of the performance, but they stood up after the first song.

Les spectateurs étaient assis au début du spectacle, mais ils se sont levés après la première chanson.

That night, four bands were due to perform. The main band, "Old School Politics" was the last one to play. They lent their equipment to the other three bands, including my friend’s.

Cette nuit-là, il y avait quatre groupes qui allaient jouer. Le groupe principal, "Old School Politics" était le dernier à jouer. Ils ont prêté leur équipement aux autres trois groupes, dont celui de mon ami.

Aquella noche, cuatro grupos se iban a tocar. El grupo principal, "Old School Politics" fue el último en jugar. Prestaron su equipo a los demás tres grupos, incluso el de mi amigo.

The two pictures above are failed attempts at taking panoramic pictures. They are failed because some parts are missing in the final panorama. In the second picture, this defect is less obvious because the photo is darker and the missing parts are plain black.

Ci-dessus, ce sont deux tentatives échouées de photos panoramiques. Échouées car il manque des "morceaux" à certains endroits de la photo. Dans la deuxième photo, ce défaut paraît moins, car elle est plus sombre et les bouts qui manquent sont noirs.

Las dos fotos de arriba son fotos panorámicas que no logré tomarlas con éxito. No logré porque faltan muchas partes en ellas. Las partes que faltan están negras. En la segunda foto, no parecen tanto por lo que la foto es la más oscura de las dos.
